






The lamp consists of a milky acrylic glass cube with switches on the outside that control the lighting inside.
3D puzzle pieces made of wood can be magnetically attached to the cube, which operate the switches. The wooden pieces consist of several layers that have been treated with different varnishes and do not fit together perfectly, creating gaps.
With the different shapes and colors, we wanted to show a diverse and multi-layered society and through the light, which becomes brighter the more puzzle pieces are on the cube, how every part of society is important for the greater whole.

The goal of the course, which took place as part of an international seminar week, was to develop a personal design signature, for which one had to find their personal "material." Subsequently, one combined with another person the materials into a project addressing a social topic, in our case integration.
I chose light as my material, my teammate wood. In our ideation, we very quickly came up with the ideas of a 3D puzzle and multi-layered surfaces with gaps, which we then combined into the final idea.

After sketches and cardboard models, we designed the individual puzzle pieces as vector graphics, laser-cut the individual layers from wood, and then glued them together.
We wired the switches to a microcontroller that controls the function and enables settings for color and brightness via a web interface.
